Rick Narup
Rick Narup cut his teeth in a South Florida engraving and printing business founded by his grandfather, Fred Narup, in 1947. As a kid, he helped make deliveries to customers, and after graduating from high school, he joined the company, which by then was run by his father, Ronald, as a full-time press operator. After the family business was sold, Rick co-founded Artcraft Engraving & Printing in 1989. “We started with five employees and three pieces of equipment in a space one-fifth of what we have now,” he recalls.

Many of Artcraft’s customers aren’t aware that Rick has had a second career as a professional motorcycle racer. He began riding dirt bikes at age 13 and later got involved in road racing, getting his professional license in 1996 and traveling to races across the country before retiring in 2005.

Rick also enjoys boating, scuba diving and other water sports. He and his wife, Tammy, have a son and a daughter.
William Sayers
Bill Sayers has more than 35 years of executive experience in the printing and paper industry. “I took graphics in high school because it seemed like an easy grade, and I’m still here,” he says jokingly. After co-founding Artcraft Engraving & Printing in 1989, Bill focused much of his attention on sales in the North Florida market, and his favorite part of the job continues to be getting out of the office and meeting with Artcraft’s customers.

Bill, who grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, loves hiking and other outdoor activities, which he pursues at his log cabin in the mountains of North Carolina. He and his wife, Cindy, a third-generation teacher, have three children. Bill also enjoys all forms of woodworking, from crafting furniture and cabinetry to building birdhouses for the couple’s four grandchildren.
Patrick Shanahan
Pat Shanahan learned the printing business while working for a New York company that served major clients including Hearst Publications, Scholastic, William Morrow and a number of large advertising agencies. After returning to Florida, where his family has been based since the 1940s, Pat joined print and cost management firm Equitrac, where he remained until becoming a partner and vice president of sales and marketing for Artcraft Engraving & Printing. “My entire career has been built around paper,” Pat says. “First I printed it, then I tracked it, and now with Artcraft I’ve come full circle.”

When he’s not thinking about paper, Pat is pursuing his other passion – golf. He also enjoys going on cruise vacations with Carol, his wife of nearly 40 years, and spending time at their vacation home on the West Coast of Florida. The Shanahans have two sons and Pat has ensured that they, too, are avid golfers.
